Ellen King

1925 - 2012

Ellen King passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at home with her loving husband of 63 years, Charles (Bill) King at her side.
Born in Willits on March 16, 1925, Ellen was one of nine children born to Ernie and Marie Page; she was raised in Willits and Woodman Creek.
Ellen graduated from Willits High school in 1944, and married Bill a few years later. For the last 63 years they made Willits their home.
Ellen was preceded in death by her son, Patrick King, who passed away June 1989 in a logging accident. Ellen is survived by sons William and Doug King of Willits, and daughter Nancy Mailliard of Healdsburg; daughter-in-laws Jayleen and Twila King; grandchildren Chad Cameron and McKenzie Mailliard, living in Seattle, Washington, and Colter and Riata King of Willits. Numerous nephews and nieces also survive, as do sisters Annie Riggs and Leatha Ridgeway.
Ellen was a dedicated mother and grandmother; she overcame numerous obstacles after she suffered a stroke at age 62, learning to walk and talk again, and never giving up her love of life. Ellen continued to work diligently on embroidery, producing numerous pieces, embroidered in spite of her handicap, and each a work of love and commitment.
A true country girl at heart, Ellen enjoyed the outdoors, participating in hunting and fishing trips with her husband and family to neighboring states. She welcomed many young people into her home while her children were in school, providing a home away from home for several during that time.
Services will be held at Anker-Lucier Mortuary at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 12. The family asks any donations go to William F. Harrah Senior Center.
