CHANCE MEETING
One day Heidi called me up at lunch and asked what I was doing that night. Sitting home probably I told her. "No you're not " she said. "You're taking me to the Beacon Theater in NYC to see The Smiths play." I was so glad she chose me when she found someone with extra tickets. We go to the concert and it lets out around 10:30. We're walking down Broadway and there are bunches of people dressed up in tuxedos and gowns walking along the sidewalk with us. I think they were at an awards show that had just let out. There's a guy with shock white hair in a black suit right next to us. Heidi looks at me and says out loud, "I know him, he's famous." He overhears this, looks over his shoulder with a smile and says,"but do you know who I am?" Its Andy Warhol I say as I reach out my hand and he shakes it. "Oh right," says Heidi. Would you sign something she asks? She reaches into her micro purse pulls out a Sharpie but there's no paper or anything else in the purse to sign on. I have nothing either. Not to miss out on the opportunity she shoves out her fore arm. "Sign my arm." she says.
Warhol smiles, as this is an even better than any paper, human canvas, and happily signs her arm. That was the chance meeting.

I was a friend of Heidi's during her brief time at Hamilton. Also, my grandmother worked at Wells College and I communicated with Heidi indirectly via my grandmother a few times... always encouraging her and being encouraged by her too... I am very sorry to hear of her passing and pray for her family and friends, having prayed already for Heidi, her peace and consolation in this life and Joy indescribable in the next. In Jesus' Name, Amen
