Juanita Wiley

1921 - 2018

Juanita Wiley, 96, of Lynn, IN passed away Saturday morning, September 1, 2018 at her residence. She was born December 13, 1921 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, the daughter of Grady and Addie (Smith) Jones.
Juanita met Sgt. Russell Wiley in Oxford, AL on May 17, 1945. They were married at the Dadeville, AL courthouse right after he received his honorable discharge, on October 20, 1945. Russ brought his new bride to his hometown of Falmouth, IN. Soon after, they moved to a farm close to Lynn, IN where she still lived at the time of her death. Russ passed away in April of 1979.
Juanita, a homemaker, enjoyed spending her leisure time working flower and vegetable gardens, and reading.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Debra Ann Wiley of Richmond, IN and Kimberly A. Burge (husband, Steve) of Lynn, IN; a sister, Maxine Sikes of Luverne, AL; three grandchildren, Holly Gutierrez (husband, David) of Lynn, IN, Toby Hollinger (wife, Meghan) of Lynn, IN and Heidi rushing (husband, Paul) of Owasso, OK; ten great-grandchildren, Lane, Olivia, Ella, Hazel, Emma, Easton, Elias, Will, Nick and Andie; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell Wiley; and two sisters, Opal Daniel and Mary Jo Porch.
A service to celebrate Juanita's life will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn, IN. Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 6th, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hollansburg American Legion.
