Lloyd Culy Obituary

Lloyd "Vic" Culy, 80, of Winchester passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
He was born Sept. 18, 1933 at home in Jackson Township, Randolph County to the late Asa S. Culy, Sr., and Mildred P. (Stewart) Culy. A 1952 graduate of Jackson High School, Vic was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. He served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong self-employed farmer and worked as a union carpenter belonging to Indiana Carpenters Local 1016 before retiring in 1994 with 47 years of service. A longtime member of Clear Creek Congregational Christian Church, Vic held several roles, he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, volunteered his time on missions at the Kickapoo Indian Reservation in Oklahoma, and utilized his carpentry skills on a mission trip to Brazil, South America with the "Men's for Missions" organization. Vic also held memberships with the VFW of Union City, Randolph County and Jay County Antique Tractor Clubs, Circle "X" Riders, Indiana Chariot Racing Association and many other equine-associated clubs and organizations.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary K. (Warstler) Culy; one daughter, Vicki Culy-Hall; two sons, Ron (wife Janis) Culy and Chris (wife Doreen) Culy; six grandchildren, Nikole and Joshua Hall, Brandon (wife Clorinda) Culy, Megan Culy, Bruce (wife Natasha) Culy and Ross Culy; two great grandchildren, Alexis Hall and Bryce Culy; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa, Sr., and Mildred Culy; one brother, Asa "Bud" Culy, Jr.; and two sisters, June Lawrence and Jane Watts.
Funeral Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Oswalt Family Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 1212 East 100 South, Winchester, with The Revs. Tom Sells and Steven Connor officiating. Burial is at Saratoga Cemetery, Saratoga.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.oswaltfamilyfuneralhome.com.
