Alice Daniels

Nov 21, 2025

Alice Patricia (Hoge) Daniels, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, in Winston Salem, N.C. She was born in Detroit, Mich., on September 29, 1939 to Carmel Hoge and Juanita Louch. She treasured extended family including aunts, uncles and cousins and her stepmother, Kathryn Hoge.

Patty graduated from Pershing High School in 1957. She attended Wayne State University while working as a secretary at Chrysler Corporation. At Chrysler she was introduced to a handsome and witty engineer who she married in 1959. In 1961, the family relocated to Wappingers Falls, N.Y., and eight years later they moved to North Carolina and settled in Winston Salem. She enjoyed working as a legal secretary for the law firm, Pettyjohn and Molitoris. She also worked part-time at Shiffman's Jewelers and Chic Wig Boutique off and on for years.

Patty was a longtime member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. She loved cats, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, reading, music and dancing. She created and maintained a beautiful home for her family and was a dedicated mother and wife. Patty's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, generous spirit, and the laughter she shared. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by the love she inspired in her family and friends.

She is survived by her two children, Linda Daniels Stone (Frank) of Port Orange, Fla. and Michael Barnes Daniels (Linda) of Morganton, N.C. Patty was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Moses Barnes Daniels, Jr., in 2023; and her parents, Carmel and Kathryn Hoge and Juanita Haskins.

A family celebration of life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, any memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 2573 Parkway Dr, Winston Salem, NC 27103, for the maintenance of the memorial garden and urn field.

Proverbs 31:26 "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue."
