Alice Sineath Obituary

Alice Browning Sineath

Jan 10, 1952 - Jun 24, 2025

Alice Browning Sineath, 73, of Winston-Salem, NC, was called home on June 24, 2025, surrounded by family she dearly loved who cared for and loved her well through her courageous battle with lung cancer. Alice was born in Asheville, NC, in 1952 to Harry and Sue Browning. Alice is preceded in death by her father and mother, and is survived by her husband, BJ Sineath of fifty years; her son, Phil Sineath (Ashley) of Birmingham, AL; sister, Peggy Heedy (Glen) of Sarasota, FL; and precious grandchildren, Nora Kate, Eli, and Olive Sineath of Birmingham, AL; as well as her dear brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, and friends whom she loved and cherished.

Alice graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Home Economics and Fashion Merchandising. She also obtained her Master's in Economics and her CPA licensure. She was passionate about education and spent her career teaching accounting and serving as the Chair of the Accounting Department at Forsyth Technical Community College.

While Alice was a gifted educator, she found much joy in serving and loving others in her community. She was an active member of Macedonia Moravian Church in Advance, NC, where she served as a long-time Sunday school teacher and a member of the Board of Trustees. Alice was a lifelong learner and found great pleasure in studying God's word and held fast to God's promises even through incredibly difficult days. She was also an active participant in the Mocksville Women's Club and served on the board of the Davie County Community Foundation. To know Alice is to quickly recognize her welcoming and inclusive nature, her easy smile, and disarming presence that comes from not taking oneself too seriously.

Alice loved bringing people together and was known for welcoming others into her home to share a meal or a glass of wine over a game of bridge, a book club meeting, or to gather around the dining table to celebrate a holiday. She also possessed a strong work ethic and could be found working on a sewing project, designing custom drapes for a friend, planting flowers in her garden, or assembling gift baskets with items for those in need. Above all, Alice loved her family and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

The family would like to thank the compassionate team of doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers at Novant Health Clemmons in Clemmons, NC, and Trellis Supportive Care, as well as the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem, NC, for their kind and loving care.

A service honoring Alice's life will be held on Saturday, June 28th at Macedonia Moravian Church, 700 NC Hwy 801, Advance, NC, 27006 at 2 p.m. with a visitation to be held at 1 p.m., one hour before the service at the same location. Donations in Alice's honor may be made to the Davie County Community Foundation or the Mocksville Women's Club. Condolences may be shared online at www.salemfh.com.

I'll always miss Alice. Alice had many positive personal attributes, making her a special friend to many, and she made so many positive contributions to her community. Never to be forgotten. Special prayers for her family and the many folks who loved her.

Oh, my, we have lost a great one with Alice´s passing. I am saddened most for BJ and family, but in a broader sense neighbors, friends, relatives, Forsyth Tech coworkers-ALL of us rue her untimely passing.

Alice was a coworker at Tech and she and I worked together to help her accounting students strengthen their writing skills. That´s a perfect example of her willingness to stretch her students´ abilities, which helped them get good work positions.

Alice worked hard, well, and with a generous and kind spirit.

BJ and Phil, I know your hearts are broken at this loss, but I also believe your memories will comfort you over time. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am so sorry to read about the passing of Mrs. Sineath. I had her for several classes at FTCC and never forgot this sweet lady. She was always so pleasant and kind, and a wonderful instructor. I had her while she was pregnant (it´s been that many years). It was a nice surprise to run into her several years ago. Keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time.

Alice was such a sweet soul. I loved the DAR meetings with her. She was always so polite and energetic. I´m really glad I got to see her a few months ago. She was always happy. It was contagious. May she rest in peace.
