Anita was such a wonderful person. She was an inspiration to many for her grace and dignity during her illness. The memory of her many smiles and kind words will forever touch my heart. She was and will always be a true LADY. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Her loss was Heaven's gain. May you all gather strength from the memory of how Anita lived her life, and the knowledge that she is most assuredly in God's loving embrace.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Anita's family. She was the most loving and caring person I have ever known. At her job she did everything and anything she could to make things alittle easier for you. There will never be another Anita. She was loved by many and will be missed by even more. I know I will miss her beautiful smile. My love to all the family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Mabe family. Anita will be greatly missed. She was a wonderful friend to me and she took me under her wing when I lost my Grandma in 2004. She helped me and became a very special friend and "Angel" in my life. She was such a wonderful, and caring person with so much Love and Compassion. I enoyed the visit I had with Anita, about a month ago. We sat in her living room and talked about Gods blessings and the achievements of her children. Colby had just done so well the day before with his track and hurdles. We laughed when she said "My boy can jump!" We had a great visit. The last thing Anita and I said to each other was I love you. She blew me a kiss as I left. I am so glad I got to visit her that day. Heaven truly gained an Angel with a Heavenly smile on June 22, 2010. She is Home waiting for each of us. I will miss her! Love and Prayers!

To the Mabe/Burroughs Family: I was sadden to hear of Anita's passing. She was such a warm and charming young lady. As a former teacher of Anita's, at South Stokes High School, I remember a bright, blue eyed, and cheerful student who was a joy to teach. She always greeted me with a hug and a beautiful smile when ever I saw her. The last time I saw her was during the Christmas holidays in CVS in Walnut Cove about a year or so ago and we stood and talked for about an hour or more. She spoke lovingly of her family, especially of her children.

Anita will always be remembered by those of us who knew and loved her, but God loved her best. May God bless each of you during this time of sorrow. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

June 25, 2010

Anita will always be a light in my life. Her beautiful eyes and loving smile always made me feel welcome. I have so many memories of her at youth camp, Ga's, Acteens and school. I have a picture of her when we were little, she was around three and I was two, and we here hugging under the Christmas tree at my aunts house. You can hardly tell which one was which due to the long blond hair. But I know...I will keep that picture always and know that you were my first real friend. I love you Anita and know that you are peaceful in our Lords arms. My prayers are with your family.

June 24, 2010

To all of Anita's family,
I will always cherish the memories we had when she was my room mate many years ago. She was just as caring then for everyone as she was now. I was blessed to have been able to call her a friend. She was there for me during my most difficult times when my mom & dad both died. My dad was in ICU when my mom passed away & she set it up to have her carried to Davis Chapel at Bapt Hospital so that my dad could see her one last time before we had her funeral. I don't know of anyone who would have went to such lengths for a family in need as she did. I loved her then and will always love her. I pray that the Lord will give each of you strength & comfort during your loss. Not only did she show the world God's love through her life but she has challenged everyone to have the faith she had during her long illness. I'm honored to have been called her friend by her. Anthony, Colby, Calli, Bart, Debora & Mrs. Betty Jo you are all in my prayers.

It wasn't unusual for her to shed a tear with you. She had such compassion for the entire community. We will miss her so much, but she'll stay in our hearts forever. Anita is now with the Father. God will wipe away her every tear, she will have no more pain, no more crying and no more sorrow. May God give you strength in the days to come. When we meet again at heaven's gate, we'll have a joyful reunion.

She loved and she labored
A friend and good neighbor
She knew she was just passing through
She carried her cross and the burdens of so many
Now she’s resting home safely with you

Jesus hold her close to your bosom
And dry all the tears from her eyes
Erase every memory of heartache she’s known
And whisper “My Child, Welcome Home”

I wish I could see the look in her eyes
When before them Heaven’s gates open wide
And the welcoming party of loved ones awaiting
As they take her hand and lead her inside…

Anthony, Colby, and Calli - our thoughts and prayers are with you. Anita will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Anita was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. My last talk with her was at the Red Rooster, and she comforted me alot with some good words, to help me through the loss of my mother. Even though she was sick herself, she was always there to help others. At least now she is at peace with the our Lord and Savior. I pray for her family, I know this is a hard time for them, but Anita is looking down on them and saying " Don't feel sorry for me, for I am doing fine now, my body is free of pain." May God be with family as they go through this time ,for it is not easy, but the love she had for her family will never pass.

Wendy Thompson

To Anita's Special Family:
It is hard to know what to say during this time of grieving. Since Anita and Deborah basically grew up with my children, I feel a special closeness to her. I will always remember her little gravelly voice and laughter. She was a professional in her job but was so compassionate. She has helped so many people during their time of grief. Not many people have touched the lives of so many as Anita has. Her pain is gone and I just know we can take comfort knowing that she is resting in the arms of Jesus now. You saw her privately, but she was an inspiration to others and will always be. May God give each of you the comfort that you need during this time. I love you all.

June 24, 2010

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Anita was truly an exceptional person. I have memories of her from attending school with her (7-12). She always was positive, wore a smile, and full of life. Even though I have not seen her since we graduated from high school, I will always remember her as cheerful.
