Blanche Williams Holcomb

HOLCOMB YADKINVILLE - Mrs. Blanche Williams Holcomb, 87, of East Lee Avenue passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Kate B.Rey-nolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born July 18, 1922 in Yadkin County to the late William Arthur and Ida Mae Bovender Williams. Mrs. Holcomb, for over 56 years, was co-owner and operator of John D. Holcomb and Son with her husband in the original building that was built in 1907. She started on the basketball team for East Bend High School in the 1930' s, loved playing Rook, bowling, and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John D. Holcomb, Jr., and by her brothers and sisters, Garl Williams, Hazel Vestal, Sherrill Williams, Lois Williams, Laster Williams, John Williams, Pearl Watson, Betty Tucker, and Ross Williams. Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Kenny Williams, Billy Dale (Nell) Williams, Carolyn (Harold) Holcomb, Shirley (Albert) Branon, Steve (Bonnie) Williams, Jerry (Carol) Williams, Trent (Denise) Tucker, Mike (Lena Gayle) Williams, Danny (Elaine) Williams, Tammy (Lester) Brown; several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends, including a special cousin, Peggy Bovender Hoskins. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Chris Vogts officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Grove Friends Church Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Willowbrook Health Care, Dr. John Williams, Dr Shih, nurses, respiratory in the T.I.C.U of Forsyth Medical Center, and staff of Kate B.
