Brenda Abbitt "Puddin" Kinzer

KINZER WINSTON-SALEM ~ Brenda Abbitt "Puddin" Kinzer Aug. 22, 1948 ~ Jan. 3, 2012 She fought a good fight! She finished her course! Brenda, known to her family and friends as "Puddin" was born August 22, 1948 to the late Christine Abbitt and Robert Hood, Sr. On Tuesday, January 3, 2012, after an extended period of illness, she departed this earth at Forsyth Medical Center. A loving mother and homemaker with a special interest in the culinary field, she chose a profession as head dietary cook at Grace Healthcare (formerly Winston Salem Convalescent Center) where she retired after twenty years of service. In the days to come, memories of Brenda will be forever cherished by her loving husband, James Alvin Kinzer; daughter, Tina Price; sons, John, Jr., Dennis, and Bryant Timmons, all of the city; step-children, Dallas and Anthony Kinzer of the city; Sgt. Maj. Stephin Kinzer, Hawaii, Regina Kinzer of Flint, MI, and Renee Stephenson of Newport News, VA; a sister, Debra (Calvin) Fluitt; brothers, Robert (Elaine) Little and Michael Belton; half-brother, Reginald, all of the city; 26 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Each passing day will also bring remembrance to a very special and loving aunt, Mable Witherspoon; aunt, Helen Hood and uncle, Leroy Thompson; sisters-in-law, Doris Harris, Ernestine Dillard, and Mildred (Mack) Tuttle; a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Howard Belton; brothers, Howard, Jr. and Chester Belton. The Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 in the Hooper Funeral Home Chapel with family visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The Funeral Cortege will depart the home of Mrs. Mable Witherspoon, 3530 Carver School Rd., Winston Salem, NC. Special thanks to Forsyth Medical Center 8th Floor nurses (Palliative Care).
