Carlie B. Dodson Grubbs

GRUBBS WINSTON-SALEM ~ Carlie B. Dodson Grubbs Mar. 23, 2011 ~ Nov. 23, 2011 Mrs. Carlie B. Dodson Grubbs, 85, of Winston Salem passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She was born March 18, 1926 in Surry County. Carlie grew up in Pilot Mountain. She worked 35 years as an inspector and tour guide at RJR Tobacco Company. While working there she met her husband and they enjoyed 39 happy years of marriage. Carlie was a loving wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to travel (especially after her retirement) whether on day trips or trips across our country. Carlie was preceded in death by her husband, Horace B. Grubbs and her mother, Gertrude M. McKinney. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter and special son-in-law, Cathy G. Myers (Mike); and many much loved cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11 a.m., at Old Town Baptist Church, with Dr. Rick Speas officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 from 6 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Old Town Baptist Church, 4386 Shattalon Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
