Charles Mecimore Obituary
Charles was a lifelong learner and a passionate teacher. He earned his bachelor's degree from Pfeiffer College in 1958, a master's from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1962, and a Ph.D. from The University of Alabama in 1966. His academic career spanned over three decades, including roles as:
Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama (1966–1967).
Associate Professor at the University of Georgia (1967–1971).
Professor and Department Head at the University of Cincinnati (1971–1980).
Department Head at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (1980–1998).
Charles held certifications as a CPA in North Carolina and a Certified Management Accountant. His accolades included being named a University Scholar (1963–1966), a Haskins and Sells Fellow (1962–1964), and recipient of the Breyer Bronze Medal in 1974.
A proud veteran, Charles served in the United States Air Force, exemplifying his lifelong commitment to service.
He was a faithful member of Calvary Moravian Church and found joy in both scholarship and spirituality.
In 1959, Charles married Barbara Chiddie, and together they built a life filled with love and purpose. He is survived by their three children: Laura Gerhardt (Jeb), C. Douglas Mecimore, Jr. (Robin), and John Amos Mecimore (Jhane).
He was a cherished grandfather to Max Mecimore, Triston Mecimore, Riley Spath (Cameron), Parker Berwaldt (Zach), Emily Gerhardt, and Sarah Gerhardt, and a great-grandfather to three adored great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held, followed by a memorial service to celebrate his life and legacy.

All of us have "but for " people in their lives. Dr Mac was one of those. He shepherded a garbage collector/motorcycle mechanic through one of the most difficult accounting programs on the east coast at UNC-G. As a Springfield friends quaker Dr Mac, "I hold you in the light". Godspeed!

What a wonderful guy Mr. Mecimore was. I used to cut his hair at the Salemtowne salon. He and I would swap recipes. If there was a new gadget to be had to cook something faster or better he had it or knew about it. He was a wonderful person. God Bless your family
