Mr. Donald Ray Cassaberry, 60, of 2020 E. 18th St. passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 19, 1943, to James and Naomi Cassaberry. Donald lived his entire life in Winston-Salem and attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools. He was a member of the Poke Easy Club. Donald was a blessing to his family and they dearly loved him. He possessed a sweet, obedient spirit. Donald was preceded in death by his father, James Cassaberry, and a brother, Norman Cassaberry. Left to cherish fond memories of Donald are his mother, Naomi Cassaberry, of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Aaron Cassaberry of Brooklyn, N.Y., and James Cassaberry Jr. of Silver Spring, Md.; seven sisters, Janice Whitaker of Dunellen, N.J., Rachel Cassaberry, Annie (Tommy) Easter, Jacqueline (Rudy) Hill, Wanda (Percell) Davidson, and Ruth and Velva Cassaberry, all of Winston-Salem; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A homegoing service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the chapel of Russell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Special thanks to the Palliative Unit at Forsyth Medical Center and to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. (Russell)
