Eddie Shockley Obituary

Eddie Lee Shockley

Apr 21, 1933 - Apr 12, 2025

Mr. Eddie Lee Shockley, 91, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mr. Shockley was born on April 21, 1933, in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, to the late Herman and Minnie Vaughn Shockley. He was a graduate of Mt. Airy High School, served his country in the US Air Force and was a member of Forbush Baptist Church. Mr. Shockley was an award-winning photographer and owned Warner Rembrandt Photography Studio in Winston-Salem prior to his retirement.

Mr. Shockley was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Trula Hale Shockley; and his sisterm Elva Erleen Heath. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Michael and Timothy; granddaughter, Jennifer Bliss; great-granddaughter, Rachel Bliss; and dear friends, Ronnie Jones and Eric Rogers; sister, Juanita Gillespie; brother, Homer Shockley (Katie); several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his very special friends, Nellie Broyhill and Hazel Hahn and many others that shared his love of music and theater.

Until recently, he could be found on most Saturdays in Mt. Airy at Mayberry's Music Center, The Earle Theater, or various festivals. He was a regular at Prissy Polly's, Pickin' and Grinnin' at Center Church in Welcome and Friday Night Jam at Trinity Methodist Church, enjoying music with his friends.

If a man's wealth is measured by the love and wonderful memories he leaves behind, Ed was truly a man blessed with riches beyond measure. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him for his sweet, kind nature and sense of humor.

A celebration of Mr. Shockley's life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Forbush Baptist Church 3917 Old US 421 Hwy E, Yadkinville, North Carolina, 27055 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Activity Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Forbush Baptist Church.

I am going through my grandmother's photos she left me and she has a beautiful portrait she had done because she was going to be in the paper when she married my grandpa in 1952. The back of the photo has Warner Rembrandt Studios stamped all over. And reorder # 29719, thank you for photographing such a beautiful time in her life and being a part of my memory through this. What a beautiful legacy or memory to leave behind for so many families. Thank you again for capturing this moment in my family history.

In loving memory of a wonderful 'Dad'. I knew this loving man through his son, Mike Shockley owner of The Hair Den on 4th. When in his presense, he was 'Dad' to everyone he met. He always had a gleam in his eyes, as if he wanted you to know 'All is well' Sending love & prayers to the family. Peace be with you...
