Mrs. Edith Coltrane Bennett, 89, died peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at her home. She was born Jan. 29, 1917, to the late William M. and Cora S. Coltrane. She lived all her life in Forsyth County and was a homemaker and mother. She was the wife of the late R. Lafayette Bennett Jr. and had three children, Elena Jeanne Bennett, Linda Rainey and Brad Bennett. She is survived by her children; her daughter-in-law, Sue; four grandchildren, Carrie Koy, Kristen Bennett, Scott Rainey and Justin Bennett; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece, Carolyn Johnson; a sister-in-law, Jane Mendenhall; and several other nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 13, at Fairview Moravian Church. Burial in God's Acre in Salem will follow. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church parlor. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. (Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek)
