She was a member of the Farmington Baptist Church and attended Farmington High School. She enjoyed gardening, farming, cooking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Blake; also by two sisters and a brother. Survivors include her son, Norman Blake and his wife, Jeannette of Advance; a granddaughter, Teresa Blake Koonts of Advance; a grandson, William Blake and wife Darlene of Advance; five great-grandchildren, Amber, Cody and Wesley Blake of Advance, Kelli Koonts of Winston-Salem and Kendra Garner of Lexington; a great-great-grandson, Joshua Garner of Lexington; two sisters, Hazel Lee and Lois Cook, both of Advance; and special friends of Mom Blake, Jimmy Phipps and Henry Holleman, both of Mocksville. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, in Eaton Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Farmington Community Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 this evening. They request that memorials be considered for Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Special thanks to Mary Anna, Leslie, Helena and Dr. Christian Sinclair and all the others at Hospice for the loving care and attention given to Mom Blake during her illness. God saw her getting tired and a cure not to be, so he put his arms around her and whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched her and saw her pass away, although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, a happy face at rest; God broke our hearts to prove He only takes the best.
