Ernest Moore Obituary

Ernest Linwood Moore, Jr., 94, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 from complication of influenza.
"Ernie" grew up in Franklinton, NC, was the youngest of six children, and the last of the "Moore boys ". A devoted Wake Forest fan, he honored his late wife by establishing the Gail Sawyer Moore Scholarship in her name in 1993. His love for baseball was evident, as he managed the 1955 National Championship Baseball Team at WFT - the university's first national championship.
After graduating from WFU, he pursued a career in the insurance industry and retired from Fireman's Fund in 1990. He spent his retirement years traveling with friends and developed a special fondness for the West.
Ernie served as a HM2 Navy Corpsman and served in Korea with the US Marine Corps.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2025 at Guilford Memorial Park, 5900 Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC.
