Paulette, Derek, Amanda and Jillian,
I don't know if I have words to express the sorrow that I felt after hearing of the sudden death of Ethan.
As I contemplated what to say, memories began to come of the day you
brought Ethan home from the hospital, the times as a baby he kept taking off his shoes and socks and throwing them in the car while on route to Sharlene's house, and as a little boy how he loved to do flips on the sofa or try funny stunts with Jillian. Cherish the moments of time you had with him. Our Lord gave him to you and now he is with Him and of course with his wonderful grandmother, Barbara. He is rejoicing with her. Solomon and I are praying for you all and we love you. I know the Lord will give you the strength to get through this difficult time. Psalms 31:7 speaks of God's unfailing love, continue to reach out and receive His love and comfort.

There are no words to express our sympathy in this time of loss. My daughter, Megan went to school with Ethan and Alex. Please know that God does not make mistakes and while we do not understand, take comfort in having Ethan for as long as you did, he was a gift from God. He will be missed but know that he is in a far better place. Take comfort in the loving arms that will embrace you and those you can still touch. Be strong, keep your faith strong - for Ethan.

My Dearest Mitsy & Family,

Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your precious son, Ethan. I recognize there are
no words to fill your loss and I hope that the many prayers extended toward you will provide
the blessed assurance that God is with you during your greatest time of need.

Be comforted by these words taken from Romans 8:38-39…..I am persuaded, that neither death,
nor life, nor angels, nor Principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height,
nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us (Ethan) from the love of God, which
is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ethan loved and is loved and will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

We love you…….

Todd & family

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.

I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.

There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.

And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.

God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years

because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.

Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.

I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;

but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...

that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,

then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."

And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,

knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,

just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;

I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,

remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ethan Smith was the sweetest person you would have ever met. I went to middle school with him at Jefferson and he always made my day with his beautiful smile and amazing personality. He was such a good person and although God has a plan for everyone, it's sad that Ethan had to go so early. He was a remarkable person and he will be truly missed.

We all love and miss you Ethan Derek Smith
