Eva Effie Smith Cromer

Mrs. Eva Effie Smith Cromer, 104, widow of Jessie Ernest Cromer, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003. She was born Oct. 16, 1899, to Eliza Leonard Smith and Martin Victor Smith. Mrs. Cromer was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Melvin Cromer; a granddaughter, Peggy Wall; a grandson, Jimmy Cromer; five sisters; and four brothers. Mrs. Cromer is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Pople and Inez Styers of Winston-Salem; two sons, Arnold Cromer of the home and Bill (Betty) Cromer of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Doris Griffin, Iris Smith, Ernest Cromer and Donald Styers; four great-grandchildren, Maria Mundy, Crystal Smith, Barry Smith and Donna Styers; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brandon Mundy, Caleb Smith and Morgan Smith. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Faith United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gene Richardson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 31, at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel, and other times at the home of Mrs. Cromer's daughter, Inez Styers, 4597 Lasley Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Walkertown. Memorials may be made to Senior Services Inc., 836 Oak St., Suite 320, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
