Florence Louise Hart Wilkes, 76, departed from the world on April 3, 2021. She was born on April 17, 1944, the daughter of the late Daniel Wagner and Idamae Hart Singletary. She served as a pillar to her family and defined the role of a matriarch. With a joyful laugh and genuine presence, she enjoyed cooking, traveling, and dancing. She was formerly a majorette at Kimberly Park, was a member and sang on the senior choir at Piney Grove Baptist Church, and was a proud retiree of RJ Reynolds. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius A. Wilkes; daughter, Marcella Clark; and sister, Bettymae Westley. She is survived by her sister, Ellen McFadden; brothers, Theardis Perry, Samuel Singletary, and Kenneth Wagner; daughters, Pamela Miller, Kimberly (Ben) Jones, and Valerie (Teddy) Wilson; sons, Robert (Angela) Miller and Reggie Miller; her oldest granddaughter, Shaquita Miller and fifteen grandchildren; special great-grandchild, Donasia Allen and nineteen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Kamesha McFadden; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, April 9, 2021 at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be followed in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
