Frank Haas, 75, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Born and raised on a farm in Scottsboro, AL, Frank was the middle of three brothers. His upbringing instilled in him a lifelong love for the outdoors, animals, and the satisfaction of working with his hands.
After moving to Winston-Salem, NC, Frank spent over three decades as a dedicated and cherished member of the community. He was actively involved in the Rotary Club, the Boy Scouts, and his church, always ready to lend a hand, share his knowledge, and lead by example. Known for his love of nature, Frank often found solace camping under the stars or riding horses at the family farm in Alabama, where he cherished the peacefulness of rural life.
Frank was a man of remarkable skill and generosity. Whether working on cars, fixing broken things, or building something new, he approached every task with care and creativity. A talented cook, he made dinner every night for his family, with his pecan pie and fried chicken becoming sought-after favorites at family gatherings.
At his core, Frank was a deeply caring man, and caretaking was woven into the fabric of who he was. As a father to five and grandfather to two, he poured his heart into ensuring his family always felt loved, supported, and safe. His selflessness and compassion extended to everyone around him, creating a legacy of kindness and devotion that will not be forgotten.
Frank is survived by his five children; two grandchildren; and countless friends who were touched by his generosity and boundless care. His life was a testament to the power of love and service, and he will be missed beyond measure.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held on December 4, 2024, at 6 p.m., at Salem Funeral and Cremation Services, 120 S Main St, Winston-Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages honoring his memory through acts of kindness or by donating to the Lansing Recovery Fund (lansingrecovery.com), supporting the recovery and rebuilding of Lansing, NC, after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Just learned of his passing, condolences to his family. He and I ran around together while we were in high school. We both liked Chevrolet muscle cars. He was working on top of a 200' tower that sat on the ridge of a hill near my parent's house in Attalla. He said that the tower swayed in the wind about 2'! He pretty much drove his Malibu Chevy fearlessly. I'm glad to have known him.
