Gloria Lehman Obituary

LEHMAN Gloria "Glo" Sue Lehman, 44, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, March 28, 2008, at her home. She was born Feb. 20, 1964, to Bruce and Barbara Lehman. Gloria had a love for people, food, entertainment, sports, quality, reputation, good service, great drinks, gambling, bingo, music, live bands, high heels, long hair, short skirts, kind bud, animals and strays. She was the waitress you were glad to get, the bartender you were happy to know, the shift manager that would let you off early, the manager that remembered to get that birthday cake for someone else and the general manager that made sure all the money went to the bank. She was preceded in death by her mother. Surviving are her father of Belleview, Fla.; a brother, Greg, and wife Siobhan of Vacaville, Calif.; and a sister, Sandy, and husband Anthony of Tamarac, Fla. Surviving also are her "House Mate," Rick Henry; sisters Susan and Pam; and soul mate Ted. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

I hadn't read these in years. I continue to miss her everyday. I wrote her obituary, and gave it to Greg. He added, that I was her Soulmate, I was Honored, and of course was right. . . When we met her nickname was G. I tagged her "The Glo" it stuck. I Will Love Her Forever. . . Ted

Gloria was a true character and I say that in the best sense! She was the bartender you wanted to know! I met her at the Mellow Mushroom, My husband and I go there every Friday night and Gloria was always there with a smile and a good story to tell! She was always fun and totally electric. I am sorry she has passed but I know for her it’s just a new journey ready to be taken! Have a fun Trip Gloria!

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Gloria for over 15 years. We had lost touch over the years and I just now learned of her illness and demise. I regret that I was not a better friend. Gloria was a genuinely fun and loving person and made people smile wherever she went. She will be missed.

I met Gloria through our daughter, Alisha. Glo was one of her dearest friends, as well as her Maid of Honor at her wedding. I also had the pleasure and joy of working with her for a short time. Her love of life was always on the surface and she could brighten up a room when she smiled. She was very loved and will be truly missed.

As far as I know, I never set eyes on this lovely person, but I have to tell you this was the perfect obituary - the tightest, most honest and most heartbreaking tribute I have ever read. For days, my wife and I, our children, my parents, and several of our friends have shared this remembrance with each other, over and over, awestruck by it. We read it aloud to one another and each of us cried for your love and for the loss of this beautiful person. We are strangers to you and to Glo, but we all agree that not knowing her was our loss. Thankfully, your tribute touched all of us so deeply and profoundly that in our hearts we have shared in your loss and in your celebration, and we wish you peace and love and sweetness and comfort. And kind-ness. Thank you and God bless.

When we lose someone we love
The loss seems too great to bear
God sends us friends to comfort us
To show that He deeply cares

But in the dark hours of the night
When there’s nobody else around
When we feel the saddest and loneliest
It’s there God’s love can be found

It’s like a soothing, healing balm
To soothe our broken hearts
The healing oil poured over us
That flows into every part

We can rest secure in God’s love
And know He’s by our side
He holds us when we feel as though
A part of us has died

We can know that God will listen
When we just want to talk
And when we feel we need to cry
We can share it with the Lord

For He is always waiting there
Ready with arms open wide
As we pour out the hurt within
He pours His love inside
Ms Glo always looked out for me. She was my special friend. You see I 'm mental challenged and she was always helping me. I'm going to miss her. Pray that God will grant the Family peace and strength to get them thru their time of sorrow.
In Jesus Name.

Mickie and I loved Gloria and loved that she loved our kids, David and Alisha. As maid of honor at their wedding, we found that she really had a "Glo" that was contagious. To those that knew and loved her, we can only share with them the "obit" that I would wish for myself. "When I think of her, I will always smile." When you remember, the person is immortal and never gone.

I will truly miss my "free-spirited," larger than life friend of fifteen years. I am thankful we shared our birthdays together this year and were able to let her know how much she is loved and cherished. My heart goes out to Glo's family and dear friends. I believe God needed another Angel to keep the others in line, and she's the woman for the job.

Gloria was my daughters best friend. She was a one of a kind and she and Susan were so close. I am so thankful they have had each other over the years. Our thoughts, love and prayers go out to her father, brother and sister as well as her close and dearest friends as they go through this difficult time. We pray that God will comfort you.

Glo will truly be missed. She had such a bubbly personality. She never met a stranger. She was a delight to be around. May Jehovah grant you all peace to help you to cope with the sorrow of losing such a dear loved one.
