Hallene Lauten Brindle passed away on November 1, 2025. She was born in Forsyth County on May 31, 1925 to the late Willie Reid Lauten and Ida Mae Welch Lauten. She was a graduate of Sedge Garden High School.

Hallene retired from Southern Bell (Bell South) Telephone Company with 37 years of service. She was very active in the Telephone Pioneers. Hallene loved playing basketball during her school years and after she graduated. In 1946 she played for a team sponsored by Major Cola Bottling Company. Hallene traveled to 14 foreign countries and on her last trip she spent her 80th birthday in Berlin, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic. She was a charter member of Union Cross Baptist Church. Hallene married the late John E. Brindle in 1977 and transferred her membership to Home Moravian Church where she participated actively as long as her health permitted.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hallene was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon Lauten and Delbert Lauten; and her sister, Velma Matthews. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Lauten of Kernersville; stepdaughter, Linda Cranford (David) of Summerville, SC; step-grandsons, Brad Cranford (DeLayne) of Summerville, SC, and Troy Cranford of Lexington, SC; step-great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caden, Brendan and Morgan; and 14 nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Salem Moravian Graveyard with visitation to follow in the Home Moravian Church Parlor. In lieu of flowers donations in Hallene's memory may be made to the Book of Remembrance, Home Moravian Church, 529 S. Church St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
