Harriet Ruth Brinker Pitz

JONESVILLE - Mrs. Harriet Ruth Brinker Pitz, 91, of Pinnix Street passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 17, 1912, in Medina, Ohio, to Fredrick and Frances Kent Brinker. Mrs. Pitz was an elementary-school teacher for 15 years until her retirement, and was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ervin, Burton and Maynard Brinker. Surviving are her husband of 701/2 years, Ernest "Ernie" Pitz of the home; five children, Arlene P. Walters of Dayton, Tenn., Barth (Sara) Pitz of Sevelle, Ohio, Fredrick Pitz of Arizona; Loretta (Bud) Davis of Tennessee and Elaine (Robert) Damon of Medina, Ohio; a brother, Walter Brinker of Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 133 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at the Jonesville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Cynthia L. Arnold. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening, Jan. 4, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Parkers Funeral Home Chapel in Spencer, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Chatham Township Cemetery in Chatham Township, Ohio.
