I am saddened by Jim's passing. I regret that I was not able to attend his "Celebration of LIfe". Jim and I go back quite a ways. We were both members of the "Winston Salem Carpet Cartel". All of these carpet store were founded in the 70's. Clemmons Carpet, Precision Decorating, Jewell Interiors, Bill Hege Carpets (recently purchase by Bill Hege) and Whitney Decorating. We all competed on a daily basis to the consumer's dollar. But we never competed personally. We played golf together. We socialized together. We took many trips together. We knew the wives. That's quite rare in such a competitive business. You didn't find it in Greensboro. You didn't find it in Charlotte. But you found it here. And we didn't even regret paying off a golf bet or losing in poker. Money did change hands. And when you won, you always said, "Thank you". Of course, the loser would say, "You're welcome. I could be lying a little bit there. I will miss Jim and the memories. My best to Jenna and and his sons. Clemmons Carpet survives thanks to Doug...the 3rd generation. Love and prayers to all.

My husband Chris, my late father, Arlie Foster, and I met Jim and the family through our business, Salem Carpet Mills. Clemmons Carpet was a very appreciated customer of ours, but most enjoyed was the friendship that came included with the business. Our best to Glenna and the sons, as they celebrate Jim's life. Close family connections are what give us purpose. Being able to also work together is what boosts the enjoyment.

Hi Glenna. This has not been a good week for me or you. You have lost Jim and I was not aware of his failing health. I've know him a long time. Decades. Carpet warriors. Golf buddies. But I never played bridge. I will truly miss him along with two other men I will say goodbye to this week. My prayers are with you and the children. God always turns his volume up to me when I lose someone I knew and cared about. He's had my attention for quite some time, but He's always reminding me of what the Cross means. In times of grief I hope it gives you peace.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. We are so sorry for the loss of your husband and beloved Father. He was always such a kind man, always with a sweet smile, so supportive of his sons. Glenna, you and your family will be in our prayers. Such an honor to have known him. Larry and Esther Novotny

As neighbors, we'd only had the privilege of knowing Jim a few years, and we had come to respect him and to love him, and were building a bonding relationship with both he & Glenna. His absence will certainly leave a void in our lives. Love to Glenna and the entire Johnsen family.
