Reed, James Bernard

January 20, 1948 - January 21, 2024

James Bernard Reed, 76, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024. He was born in Puerto Rico on January 20, 1948 to the late Charles Bernard Reed and Sally Evelyn Smothers Reed.

James was a graduate of RJ Reynolds High School and NC State University where he received a Bachelor's degree. In his spare time he enjoyed freelance photography and golf. James was a longtime member of Fries Memorial Moravian Church.

He is survived by his brother, Bill Reed (Betty) of Charlotte; a nephew, Charles Dickinson Reed (Megan) of Greenville, SC; a niece, Elizabeth Reed Arnold (Guy) of Denver, CO; and four great-nieces, Elizabeth Frances Reed, Kate Southerland Reed, Lilia Reed Arnold and Anna Scott Arnold.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Salem Moravian Graveyard with Rev. Dr. Worth Green officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fries Memorial Moravian Church, 251 N. Hawthorne Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104, or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Condolences may be made online at www.salemfh.com.
