Jan Duncan Whiteheart, age 70, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, February 20th, 2021 following a debilitating stroke suffered in October 2019. She was born in Winston-Salem on March 7, 1950 to the late C.H. and Marian Duncan. Jan graduated from RJ Reynolds High School and Peace College. She spent most of her adult career working in the family business of Duncan Music Company, and later worked at Salem Creek.

She is survived by her son, Clay Whiteheart and wife Katy of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Tinsley, Shelby, and Paisley; sister, Donna Boyer and husband Duncan of Woodstock, GA; nephew, Michael Kloppenburg and wife Lindsay; additional nieces and nephews, Kristina and husband John, Stephanie and husband Kory, Geoffrey, and Vincent; special friends, Susan and Sammy Jones and Judi Chandler; and other cousins, aunts, and uncles.

The family plans a Memorial Service at a later date.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of The Oaks at Forsyth for their excellent and compassionate care over the last year, especially during an unprecedented pandemic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the C.H. Duncan Memorial Scholarship, C/O ASU Foundation, Appalachian State University, Boone, NC. 28608 or to the Winston-Salem Community Band of the Winston-Salem Recreation and Parks Department (contact Marian Clark 336-993-2325). Clay you may not remember me but I cleaned for your mom Shelton's Cleaning Service and your Grandparents I am so sorry to hear about your mom she was a sweetheart Clay and you family are in my prayers !!

I would like to express my sympathy to you and the rest of Jan's Family I meet Jan through here mom and Dad when I cleaned for them I then started cleaning for Jan Cleaned for her a long time. I am so sorry to hear about Jan she was a very sweet person always smiling you and your family are in my prayers !!

Hi Clay, you don´t know me but I spent 4 1/2 years working with your sweet Mom at Salem Creek. She always had such loving words when she spoke of her Son. She always had such a positive attitude and fantastic smile and laugh. Judy kept her laughing!!! I am so sorry for your loss.

Clay, we are so saddened to hear of your great loss. Jan was such a lovely person who enjoyed her family and life so much. May the void in your heart and soul be filled with all the love you both shared and all the wonderful memories! I know she was so proud of you and the wonderful bond you and she shared.
