Janie Arlene Jones Austin, 82, of King, NC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family at her home on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Ms. Austin was born in Moore County, NC, on March 2, 1944, to the late Colon Lee and Lucille Crabtree Jones. She and her husband, the late NCSHP Ret. Sgt. Willis Rayvon Austin, made their home in Stokes County, NC, in 1974. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church in King and a former member of Poplar Springs Church.

Ms. Austin was a talented seamstress and avid gardener who loved to sit on her back porch and watch the sun set over Pilot Mountain. She never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone. She loved her family and always wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She fought cancer for 10 years with a positive attitude, faith, and trust in God.

Ms. Austin was preceded in death by her parents, Colon and Lucille Jones; her husband, Willis Ravon Austin; a brother, Bobby Jones; and a son-in-law, Randall Brent Angel.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cindy Austin Angel, and Pamela Ausin Moore, both of King, NC; two sisters, Kathy Reeder of Aberdeen, NC, and Glendora Russell of West End, NC, a brother, Clarence Jones (Nancy) of Star, NC; three grandchildren: Emily Ausin Angel of Raleigh, NC, Mary Austin Moore of King, NC, and Will Moore (Kali) of Tobaccoville, NC, a great-grandchild, Liam Moore of Tobaccoville, NC.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Trellis Supportive Care, Novant Health Cancer Institute, Forsyth Medical Center, and Center Well Home Health for their support, care, and compassion.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at First Christian Church Cemetery in King, with Minister Glenn Van Meter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the gazebo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church Cemetery Fund: 625 Meadowbrook Dr., King, NC 27021.
