Jesse Franklin Needham, 80, of Tobaccoville, NC passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Surry County on January 3, 1943 to Edith Holt and Garnett Franklin Needham. Jesse retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 30 years as a mechanic. He served with the Old Richmond Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. Jesse loved music, particularly bluegrass and gospel. He hosted open jam sessions at his Music Barn in Tobaccoville every Thursday for 17 years. Jesse used his barn to inspire young musicians and serve his community through a ministry of music.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Lane Needham; brother, James "Buddy" Needham; and sister, Edith "Sis" McGaha. He is survived by his son, Darin Needham of Lewisville; daughter, Laura Beth Needham James (Bradley) of Rural Hall; grandchildren, Mallory, Lauren, Brandon, Ava, and Lola; brother, Larry Needham (Wesley); sister, Patricia Needham Jeffares (Doug); sister-in-law, Gaynell Needham; and close friend, Beverly Markland. Jesse also leaves behind a large extended family.
Jesse leaves behind these final words from the hospital, "Everybody has been so good to me. Thank you friends. You all be good. Tell everybody I love them. Take care of my baby Lauren; she is my life. I am ready."
A funeral service will be held at Salem Funeral Home on Reynolda Road Saturday, February 11 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Old Richmond Volunteer Fire Department, 7975 Reynolda Rd., Pfafftown, NC 27040. Online condolences may be made at www.salemfh.com.

Charles and I met Jesse when we lived in King. We were invited to his jam sessions at his Music Barn and came to love country music. Everyone knew Jessie and his Barn jam nights. He brought brought people together to listen to music and enjoy each other. His group came to Priddy Manir to perform for the residents while my
Mom was a patient. He was a kind, generous gift to so many and we will miss him.
