David,Jamie,Martie,Joe,Ray,
Words can't even describe how sorry I am for the loss of your wife,Mother, and one of my very Best Friends. I can say without a doubt that God has really taken a true Angel away from us. Joanie was one of the most precious, loving, caring friends that I have ever known. I can only tell you all that I love all of you and please know that you can call me any time for anything. If I can make half as many people smile that Joanie has in her short life, then I will proud. She truly will be missed. I love all of you... I can only say that I will try to be the MOM that Joanie was to all the "Boys". I have caught myself thinking funny things that we have done, said. And there has never been a bad time at all. She was a dear friend and I will miss her Dearly.
I love all of you!!!!!

David, Ray, Joe, Jamie, Marty and family,
We feel like we have known you for many years even though it has only been a short time since meeting your gang. You are a special family. Joanie will truly be missed. She was one of a kind. She was a very loving and caring person. We know Eric loves coming to Yadkinville. You make him feel right at home. We have had so many good times at the Guilford football games cooking out and socializing. We are going to miss Joanie cheering in the stands for our boys. We know this is a very difficult time for your family. The Lord will carry you through this time. You are in our thoughts and prayers. There is one more angel in heaven. Her name is Joanie.
Love,
Ron, Tina and Eric Smallwood

I am very sorry about the passing of such a loving mother and wife. Joanie has been fussing with my hair and giving me life advise since I was 14 years old. She made me feel like there was always something better to look forward to. I had the pleasure of spending an awesome weekend at the beach with her, David, and Paul last summer, and my mother and I were looking foward to going with your mom this spring to the beach for a girls weekend. She was always so concerned with everyone's feelings and how she could make them better. I consider it a true blessing to have known your mother and your wife, and to have been eveloped in her love of life. It gives me great comfort in knowing that she is up there watching after us all. If you need anything do not hesitate to let us know.
With all our blessings and love,

I was fortunate to meet Joanie last Friday at my cousin Carmella's funeral (Jamie's fiance'), she was one of the nicest people I have ever met. She took up with our family just like she had known us forever. Truly a great woman. I could tell from the get go that she loved her family. I just wish I had time to get to know her better. God Bless each of you through your loss. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Jamie please don't hesitate to call any of us if you need anything, or just need a friend to talk to. We are here for you always. We love you. Thanks for being the person you are, and thanks for being such a loving spouse to our Carmella.

David- Joe & Ray,
I am so sorry to hear about
the passing of Joanie. I know she loved each of you very much.
Ray- Joe - She was so proud
of you two boys- I hope that as days
turn into months and months into years that you will always remember
her undying love for you two boys.
I remember living at the end of Dudley Street and as I would pass by your house, there always seemed to be alot of your friends
around, and I remember Joanie was sort of like " The Kool Aid Mom".
You guys were blessed to have a mom like her.
David- I know that words cannot ease the pain nor the emptiness you are probably feeling
right now, I pray that God will give grace to somehow go on, Knowing that is what Joanie would want you to do. I believe that Heaven is a brighter place, now that Joanie's Smile is there.
God Bless all of You,
Bobby - Lynette Coble

David, Joe and Ray,
There is never really anything to say at a time like this that can help take away the hurt I know you are all feeling. Joanie was the sweetest lady, always there to offer a smile and hug when I would run into her around home. One of the things I will remember most about her though, is how special and loved she made everyone else feel. I know that Melonie thought the world of Joanie, as did the rest of her friends from Yadkinville that grew up with Joe and Ray. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
