Joe Chavier Obituary

MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Joe Chavier, 86, of 175 Southview Street in Mount Airy, husband of Clara Horton Chavier, passed away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Chavier was born in Fall River, Mass., on Sept. 27, 1920, son of the late Joseph T. Chavier and Antonia Augustine Chavier. He was past owner of J&C Parts; retired from Lowe's Hardware; a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II; and a member of the American Legion Post 123. Surviving are his wife, Clara Horton Chavier of the home; James and Carol Horton of White Plains, Sadie and Donald Spargo of Hueytown, Ala.; and all of his special nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be James Horton, Jeff Horton, Joe Horton, Jared Horton, Don Spargo and Jason Horton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Chaplain Todd Byrd with burial to follow in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, Feb. 11 at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
