John Linville Obituary
KERNERSVILLE - John Paul Linville, 62, received the checkered flag, winning his last race on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005. He was born Jan. 2, 1943, in Forsyth County to the late Ernest Paul and Floy Phipps Linville. Mr. Linville had been a self-employed building contractor since 1970. He recently had been able to combine his lifelong love of racing and family by working with his son-in-law, Kevin Harvick, at KHI. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Buck Linville. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Griffin Linville, of the home; a daughter, DeLana Harvick, and husband Kevin of Kernersville; five sisters, Jenny Ferguson, Sue Stockton and Judy Curtis, all of Kernersville, Joan Pardue of Yadkinville and Shelby Payne of Charlotte; a brother, Richard Linville, of Kernersville; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today, Nov. 2, at Kernersville First Baptist Church, with Dr. Steve Martin officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317, in memory of John Paul Linville. The family would like to take this time to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Charles Branch and staff, Dr. Glenn Lesser and all of John Paul's many friends, neighbors and caregivers for all their love and support during this time. Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home is serving the Linville family.

I want to send you my sympathy on the loss of your father/loved one, John Paul. I am just a race fan who thinks Kevin is a great driver. As a race fan, I watch everything having to do with Nascar and that includes Nascar Drivers 360. I had the joy to watch Kevin play his numerous "pranks" on John Paul, LOL!! The "bouncy-balls" was the best. You seem like a close/loving family. Your memories will keep him alive in your heart. John Paul hurts no more and you have an angel on your shoulder.
