LEXINGTON - On Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, God called Mr. John Lee Transou home to Glory from Brookstone Retirement Center in Lexington. He was born on April 16, 1919, in Lewisville, the son of John Henry Transou and Martha Sprinkle-Transou. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Lexington, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board for many years. Mr. Transou was a retired employee of Foltz Concrete and Pipe Co. He was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife, Elizabeth Transou; his stepmother; a son, Levi Hill Sr.; a grandson; six brothers; and seven sisters. He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Alline H. (Booker T.) Blair, of Arcadia; a grandson, Levi Hill Jr., of Winston-Salem; four sisters, Tempie T. Robinson, Elizabeth T. (Frank) Henderson and Julia T. Huggins, all of Lexington, and Roslyn T. Thompson of Winston-Salem; a devoted nephew, Jimmy L. Transou Sr., of Arcadia; three sisters-in-law, Nellie Transou of Arcadia, Margaret Transou of Lexington and LaVerne Montgomery of Rural Hall; a daughter-in-law, Alvonia Hill, of Winston-Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Goodwill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Philemon A. Samuels officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family visitation will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the church. Online condolences may be made at www.russellfuneralservice.com. (Russell)
