Uncle Larry... A year has passed without you here. It has been an extremely difficult year, but I know that you have been looking over all of us and are in a better place. You are truly missed. I wish you were here to see Kyndall, Carter and Avery growing up and learning new things. I just keep looking at the pictures of you and Kyndall when she was born. You were so proud... I'm glad I was able to be a close part of your life. I love you and miss you.

Uncle Larry,
I just want you to know there has not been a day go by that I haven't missed you and thought of you. I know I didn't get to spend much time with you, but I never stopped caring for you. I know you are free from all the burdens and are at peace now. God Bless you!!! I love you.

Your loving wife, Judy

December 28, 2007

It's almost been a year since I held you in my arms, my love. You were my world. I lived for you. I know you listened to my words, but I don't believe you ever knew just how very much I loved you. I finally realized I couldn't save you. And, I am coming to grips with that little by little. My one prayer...my one hope...is that you no longer have the pain and misery you suffered with for so long. God ended your suffering and took you home. Praise God for his forgiveness and compassion.

I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain.
You weren't afraid to face the devil,
You were no stranger to the rain.
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done.
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son.
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve.
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing.
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done.
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son.

It was sad not having you at Nanny's for lunch a few weeks ago. I expected you to walk in any minute and we talk about the race, the Daytona 500! And after lunch everyone listening to you snoring on Nanny's couch. : ) We miss you and love you Uncle Larry! It's just not the same without you....

I used to work with you guys at Westtown Restaurant in Lewisville, NC. When I heard about your Dad, I wanted to send my condolences. I lost my Dad under the same circumstances on Nov. 20th. Feel free to contact me if you want to talk to someone who is going through the same thing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Some people cheer for Dale Earnhardt, Kevin Harvick, or Jeff Burton, but my family, to this day, remains true Larry Childress fans. Many idolize those with superpowers like Batman or Superman, but after last June, I continue to claim a little, kind-hearted, white-haired man with a nametag that said "Larry," whose generosity surpasses all that I've ever experienced and probably ever will, as my hero. Thanks for the memories, Larry. You've made us the happiest race fans in the world. We love you.
Keep the Faith,

January 16, 2007

I did not personally know Larry. My daughter-in-law Whitney-Cole Novotny (Kleinschuster) worked with
Judy @ WF Baptist Hosp. while my son was there in Medical School.
My son loves NASCAR and Judy arranged for Larry to give them a personal tour of the museum. Chris & W-C were so saddened to hear of Larry's passing. They emphasized how nice he was, how he made them feel like he knew them forever and was so gracious and kind. They talked about what a nice guy he was. So may you be comforted that he touched many lives. More than you will probably ever know. May you be comforted knowing that many thought very highly of him.

I AM SO SO SORRY FOR YOU LOSS. I can remember the first time I met Larry he always had a funny remark or joke to make about Michael and I. He was a good man I am glad to know that he was there just a few days before to meet my momma Ellen Hughes in Heaven from one of her most beloved Nascar Teams. This has been one of the most horrible first of the years I could have had to handle and I am so sorry for not being able to come and give my condolonces in person. But I know that you understand. But if there is anything I can do for any of you, please let me know. I love you guys as still a part of my family and always will.

I am so sorry for your loss. Larry (Jr) gave me a book a few years ago - Deeper than Tears - and I still have it and read it anytime I experience a loss. There are so many passages that have touched me, but I particularly like this one.

"There are moments when the suffering is so deep that one can hardly talk to a person. The Lord knows and understands. No pit is so deep that the Lord is not deeper still. Underneath us are everlasting arms."

God bless all of you.

Today he has recieved a "checkered flag" of a different sort and have crossed yet another and the Final "Finish Line", Paul speaks in our Bible in the New Testament ,that to be absent from the body is to "be present with the Lord", also in the new testament he mentions to his friend and brother Timothy these words and today they bring new meaning to us left behind "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the Faith," may your faith in our Lord bring you peace and comfort and please remember you each one of you are in our thoughts and prayers while traveling through this very hard and difficult time.

Stella Grant

January 4, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Larry's family,
My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to you all. I only met Larry a few times through my good friends and his good friends, the Shoemakers. I could tell he had a kind and loving heart and was a genuine person. May God comfort you and give you peace during this difficult time.
Love,
Marty and Gail Beeson
