REIDSVILLE - Lillian Brown Purgason, 88, of Annie Penn Skilled Nursing Care died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at the nursing center. Mrs. Purgason was a native of Rockingham County and the daughter of the late Mart B. and Lilla Bolden Brown. She was a homemaker and a longtime and faithful member of Ruffin United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Purgason was preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Purgason; her daughters, Mary Ann Purgason Carter and Gloria Kay Purgason; three brothers; and a sister. She is survived by her children, Walter H. "Bud" Purgason and wife, Betty, of Reidsville, Betty Purgason Talbott of Reidsville, C. Daniel Purgason and wife, Jalna, of Ruffin, Josephine Purgason Clifton and husband, Jack, of Reidsville, G. Wayne Purgason and wife, Patti, of Bethania, Nancy Purgason James and husband, Harvey, of Reidsville and Michael Purgason and wife, Jean, of Ruffin; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ressie Brown Shough, of Eden. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Smyrna Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, Aug. 23, at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Betty Talbott's home (161 Link Road).
