Linda Amme Obituary
October 18, 1945 - February 11, 2023
Linda Litchfield and Rick Amme met on a Norfolk, VA blind date in 1967 and began a love affair that ended with Linda's passing February 11, thus leaving Rick, me, alone for the first time in 55 years. Linda's values, smarts, courage, and unconditional love formed the arc of my life. Whenever there was a challenge or risk to be taken, she took it. Our most memorable experiences were either of her creation or the result of her standing firm despite fearful odds. The best creative gift-giver I ever met; she defined unselfishness. Her devotion to orphaned and injured animals helped start the wildlife rehab effort in Forsyth County. Her affection for people brought her dementia-troubled mother to live with us for two years. Best of all, she brought my 7-year-old nephew into our childless home where summer after summer, he and three neighbor boys played together through those warm days as she taught them to swim. That was my/our Linda.
Eventually years of chronic illness brought her down, peacefully, in my arms and in our home. Goodbye, my love.
A private service has already been held.

Rick, our hearts break for you with the loss of Linda. As a former neighbor and mother of one of "your boys," we know how special Linda was to you, the boys, and rescued animals. I will always remember the first time I rang your doorbell and was greeted by a possum. I never see a possum or raccoon and not think of Linda. I will be keeping you close in heart as you adjust to the transition of life without dear Linda.
