Lynne Carpenter Hart, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Mocksville on November 12, 2022, after a period of declining health. Lynne was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on June 26, 1940, to the late Arthur Thorley Carpenter and Mary Tate Conklin Carpenter. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Hart.

Lynne graduated from Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, New Jersey, in 1957, and attended Duke University School of Nursing, graduating in 1961. Following her nursing career, Lynne was a realtor with Ferrell Reality and McGill Realty, and later became owner of Art and Frames, Ltd.

A patron of the arts, Lynne supported the Arts Council and the Winston-Salem Symphony Guild, serving as president. In 1989, she was honored with the Beverly Sills Award for her leadership as president of the Piedmont Opera Theatre. She was an active volunteer with the Medical Alliance and a committed member of her women's circle with First Presbyterian Church.

A leader in the Town & Country Garden Club, Lynne took pleasure in all aspects of gardening. She was a lover of nature and especially animals. At her home on Butterblock Farm, she delighted in the daily feeding of the ducks in the pond, as well as the birds and squirrels. Treats were never in short supply for the many dogs (and one cat!) who were lucky enough to live at the farm with Lynne and Jim. Together, they enjoyed many happy times with family & friends at Sunset Beach, NC, played bridge and explored the world via diverse itineraries that included nearly every continent. They shared their love of travel with each grandchild by hosting a trip to various national parks across the United States for their 12th birthdays.

Lynne is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Oliver J. Hart, Jr. (Jim); sons, Graham Brice (Mollie), Greg Brice (Susan), Jimmy Hart (Lee); and daughters, Bonney Daves (Phillip) and Bess Wagner (Rich); grandchildren, Emily Brice, Vance Brice, Jake Brice, Whitfield Brice, Jessica St. John (Ryan), Ashley Hart, Jamie Slominski (Alex), Katie Gigliotti (Adam), Mollie Strickler (Dave), Maggie Daves, Hart Wagner, and Mour Wagner; as well as nine great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend special gratitude to her compassionate caregivers, Christy Keaton and Linda Bowman, as well as Jaelyn Edwards with Trellis Supportive Care.

A celebration of life will be on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Salem Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd., followed by a brief visitation. A private interment will be held at Forsyth Memorial Park.
