Mrs. Mabel Elaine Mosley "GG" Goad, age 93, formally of Mount Airy, passed away early Saturday morning, February 7, 2026, at Priddy Manor Assisted Living. Mrs. Goad was born in Surry County, on August 29, 1932, to the late Jacob Elvin and Lena Mae Sykes Mosley. She was longtime artist, and designer, a member of Stanleyville Baptist Church. Mrs. Goad was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sibling, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Janet (Ray) Southern; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny (Kiva) Goad; grandchildren, Nathan (Angela) Southern; Angie (Will) Chappel, Josh (Kim) Southern, Austin Southern, William (Kristen) Goad, Alan Goad; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Daniel Southern, Grayson Goad; sister, Nerina Culler; brother, Jacob Elvin Mosley, Jr. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goad was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years and 6 days, William A. Goad; sisters, Iona Scott, Audrey Marion. A celebration of Mrs. Goad's life will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 3 p.m., at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Rev. Jim Miller and Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 2 p.m. to the time of the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Goad family.
