March 22, 1934 - June 20, 2022
Mabel Gillie Jones, 88, of Lexington, passed away June 20, 2022, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Oak Forest with Pastor Rev. Rick Carter, Rev. Dwight Cartner, and Rev. Darren Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Jones was born March 22, 1934, in Ashe County, to Reaves Gillie and Berly Gillie. She was a member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church and dearly loved her church family. She also had a special place in her heart for her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Jones.
Surviving are two sons, Bill Jones of Carolina Beach, and Robert Jones (Mikala) of Jefferson; two sisters, Helen Combs of High Point, and Sue Wheeler of Greensboro; and three grandchildren, James Robert II and fiancée, Leydee, Brandon and fiancée, Morgan, and Suzanne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to Oak Forest United Methodist Church 11461 Old U.S. Hwy 52, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.

I am just now seeing this... I have thought of Mabel often over the years, and felt so very blessed to run into out at times!!! She was always the same, sweet, wonderful, supportive, beautiful, smiling... one of my favorite people ever!!! I worked with Mabel at Winn Dixie in the bakery! She will always be my favorite!!!!! I am sad to realize that I will not run into her again here on earth, but I will definitely look forward to seeing her again!!

This is cousin Carmen, I am so sorry about your mom. What a lovely lady she was! I remember how loving, patient, and kind she was. I will pray for your comfort.

Ms Mabel was a "wonderful" person who loved God, always looked for ways to help her neighbors and others "without" making a big deal of it.
A well dressed - nice lady that frequently supported a local restaurant "The Country Kitchen" at meal times.
Very supportive of local businesses, assisted others in community, raised a great family (all became successful) together with her husband J.R.
We'll miss her but Heaven is richer now for her home going.
May God's peace, joy and assurance be with each family member, friends and neighbor until we cross over into eternity with the Savior.
