MONETA, Va. - Margaret Pope Elting, 71, of Moneta and formerly of Winston-Salem, N.C., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at her residence. She was born June 30, 1933, in Forsyth County, N.C., a daughter of the late Stokes Ivey Pope and Orpha Marie Leonard Pope. She is survived by her husband, Harold J. Elting Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen E. and Lee Cico of Bedford and Sandra E. and Jay Carnahan of Beckemyer, Ill.; a brother, L.B. Pope of Kernersville, N.C.; a sister, Marlene Flinchum of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and four grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Updike Funeral Chapel in Bedford. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford. Friends may call after noon today, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Updike Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Bedford.
