Zelma Durham Obituary

Zelma Roberta Anderson Durham, 76, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 14, 2006 with the love of her family surrounding her. She was the first of 11 children born to Oria Earl and Louise Beulah (Rogan) Anderson, Sr. on April 22, 1930 in Choctaw, OK. She worked for the US Post Office for 30 years until her retirement in July, 1996. Zelma is survived by her 10 children: John Durham, Gayle Linzy (Edgar) Cedar Hill, TX, Ella Parker (Willie), Percy Durham, June Epps, Stanley Durham (Debra), Brenda Durham, Ora Morgan (Theodore), Lenora Madkins (Alex), and Richard Durham (Diana) all of Oklahoma City: 7 sisters: Helen Hines, Wilma Hale, Ghita Williams, Claudette Murphy, Prins Anderson, Gloria Ward, and Ephelders Lipscomb, 2 brothers: Oria Anderson, Jr., and Cornelious Anderson, 27 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Oria Anderson, Sr, mother Louise Anderson sister Fayette Teal, and niece Yvette Talley. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday July 22, 2006, at True Vine Independent Baptist Church with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

I never knew Aunt Zelma could sing until she led a song, "Because He Lives." She will forever live in my heart and I will remember her singing that song.
