Michael Critz Obituary

CRITZ WINSTON-SALEM ~ Michael Lindsay Critz Nov. 29, 1962 ~ Dec. 3, 2011 Michael Lindsay Critz, 49, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born November 29, 1962 to Herman Lindsay Critz and Emma Lee Caldwell Critz. Michael graduated from West Forsyth High School in 1983. His first employment was with Piedmont Airlines, working in Reservations. He later moved on to Sara Lee where he was in the Customer Service area for eleven years, until he resigned due to increasing health issues. Michael was a gentle soul with a heart as big as the sky. He always went out of his way to be helpful, courteous, and considerate of others. Michael loved most all kinds of music, from classical to country to southern rock. Michael loved traveling, the beach, spending time on his computer, and dining at Ruby Tuesday's. He was a man of faith and a life-long member of Christ Moravian Church. He leaves an incredibly empty space in the lives of his family and friends. The word used most often to describe Michael was "special," and special he was. He was preceded in death by his brother, David, and his niece, Shana Lyons. Surviving are his parents; a sister, Shannon Lyons; and a niece, Jamie Lyons. Also, a very special friend, Kristy Beroth. The Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Christ Moravian Church with the Rev. Roger Kimball officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Christ Moravian Church, 904 West Academy Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27102, Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or The American Cancer Society, 4-A Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth- miller.com.

As the days go by I miss Mike more and more and am deeply saddened by the void he has left in my life. I will think of Mike daily and keep his memory close, remembering all the wonderful times we shared together. Thank You Herman, Lee, Shannon, and Jamie for "sharing" Mike with me. He was a blessing and will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Dearest Critz family, you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. Michael was such a kind person the few times I had the pleasure of meeting him. I pray you all find some comfort and peace knowing he has a new body now and is no longer in pain. That does not take away from the "missing him". You will one day see him again. Just please know you all are in my prayers constantly through this. Love and Prayers.

I didn't know Mike personally but sent love and prayers to him through his dear friend Kristy throughout his illness. I will treasure reading this loving description of Mike and seeing his delightful face. My heart goes out to his parents, his family, and all of his friends. May your memories of Mike bring you comfort, along with the certainty that Heaven has welcomed another angel into its fold.

My deepest sympathy to all of you.

I came to 'know' Mike and his family through our mutual friend, Kristy Beroth. It seems only fitting that a man as dear as Mike should leave a legacy of such warm friendship between his loving family and his special friend.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mike while I worked for Hanes Mall. Mike used to come in often and visit with those of us who worked at customer service. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Critz family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike and David through the music that we played together in High School. I was also fortunate enough to meet and spend time with their parents and sister on many occasions. They always made you feel like you were a part of the family anytime that you were in their home. They were both exceptional men and I am certainly honored that they considered me to be a freind. I have so many great memories of the time that I shared with all of them. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the Critz family at this time.

I went to school and graduated with Mike and David. I have many memories of David and me playing in our high school band 'Southern Explosion' together in the Critz's basement as kids. Mike, Shannon and Mr. and Mrs. Critz were always there to support and listen to us!! We did have a lot of fun!! I consider myself an old friend of the family and am so grateful that I had the opportunity to be in their lives as kids growing up. We had alot of good times and we created alot of memories together that will always live on!! Love you Mike !!

As a friend of Kristy's and without knowing Mike personally, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Mike's family. It sounds like Mike made his life a blessing to others while he was here and is now being rewarded with the blessings of a life well lived. God's peace to all in this time of sorrow and reflection.

Herman, Lee and Shannon, please know that we were so saddened to hear the news about Michael. Michael, as well as David, were both such delightful, uplifting people, and we feel so fortunate to have known them. God truly blessed you with two sons that I considered to be angels. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I didn't know Mike personally, only through his friend, Kristy Beroth. When Kristy told us of his illness, we all prayed for Mike and kept him in our prayers. To his family, you have my deepest sympathy. Mike your journey of eternal rest has just begun. God rest your soul.

Everytime Mike came to eat at Ruby's it made my day. I always sought to encourage him and lift his spirits but he always did that for me with his sweet spirit and attitude on life. If anyone had a reason to grumble and complain,he did,but he wouldn't. He accepted his life's trials and leaned on his Father in heaven to get him through. I will miss Mike so much but he gives me one more reason to look forward to my heavenly home because I will see my friend again. I truly believe he will be taller than me and faster! I love you Mike, by for now buddy. WES ( Ruby Tuesday)
