Mildred Bowen Obituary
May 18, 1934 - May 26, 2025
Lawsonville- Mildred Mae Carter Bowen, 91, entered into rest peacefully, Monday, May 26, 2025, at home.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 29, 2025, from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2025 at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Mildred was born in Henry County, VA, on May 18, 1934 to the late Thomas Carter and Hope Bell Carter. She spent many years taking care of others, and also worked as a cashier, and a food preparer for an airline. Mildred enjoyed crossword puzzles, and shopping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Bowen; children, Rocky Bowen, Dallas Lane Bowen, Brenda Bowen, Ricky Dean Bowen, and Brian Keith Bowen; grandchildren, Stephen Creed, and Jill Creed; and great-grandchild, Braxton Bowen; as well as all of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Larry Marshall Bowen, Larry Glenn Bowen, Nancie Whitaker, and Kathy Bowen; grandchildren, Stacy Ackerman, Adrianna Bowen, and Crystal Bowen Parnell; great-grandchildren, Skylar Mae Ackerman, Paisley Sage Bowen, Jacob Michael Parnell, and Carter Braxton Parnell.
Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.

My Mama adored Mildred & I remember Mildred telling my Mama the same.. They had so many good times together. When my Mama got 'sick', Mildred was there for us. That meant so much to me. My heart is broken for y'all.. Until we see her again. I think of her & my Mama together talking & picking, & laughing! I just smile with tears in my eyes!
