Nell Elliott Obituary

ELLIOTT Nell Williamson Elliott, 82, died peacefully at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. She was born June 19, 1924, to DC "Cleave" and Berta Tucker Williamson in Surry County. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred Elliott; brother Alvin Williamson; sister Annie Williamson; and four infant siblings, twins Edith and Guy Kimber, an unnamed sister and Kizzie Marie. She is survived by her three children, Tad F. (Joan) Elliott of Brownsville, Texas, Ann Carolyn Skillington of Winston-Salem and Linda Jean (Ellis) Hardison of Robbins; a granddaughter, Laura Katherine Skillington; sisters Edna V. Williamson and Martha J. Williamson of Winston-Salem; and sister-in-law Reba Williamson of Elkin. In 1942, she moved to Washington, D.C., and worked for the Post Office Department. After her marriage in 1949, the family lived in Arlington, Va., then French Morocco and Nicosia, Cyprus. before moving back to North Carolina. She retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co., working at R.R. Foods and then in Shareholder Services. She was an active member of Pfafftown Christian Church since 1963 and served as an elder of the church. She enjoyed recent trips with family to England, Scotland, Mexico, Maine, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, Canada. Her love of flowers brought her pleasure. She had a deep and abiding love for her family and her church family. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Pfafftown Christian Church at 3323 Transou Road. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 25, at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice or Pfafftown Christian Church, P.O. Box 130, Pfafftown, NC 27040.
