Nellie Tuttle Ellis
ELLIS Mrs. Nellie Tuttle Ellis, 92, formerly of Luther Street, Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Ellis was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Forsyth County to the late Albert Miller and Stella Shouse Tuttle. She was a longtime member of Home Moravian Church. Mrs. Ellis retired after 40 years of service with Duke Power Co. She married Roy Edgar Ellis on July 15, 1939. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1998. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary, Kenneth and Dorothy and Harold and Betty Tuttle. She is survived by nieces and nephews Susan and Larry Huskey, Pat and John Reich, Steve and Irene Tuttle, Wayne and Regina Tuttle, Jeff and Lisa Tuttle, Doug and Jewel Tuttle and Gary and Sarah Tuttle; and two nieces by marriage, Libby and Michael Creasy and Suzanne Ellis. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Moravian Graveyard, with Pastor Christy Clore officiating. The family will meet with friends immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or Forsyth Humane Society, 61 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family would like to especially thank Mrs. Ellis' s caregivers in the Special Care Unit at Salemtowne and also the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their loving care and compassion during her stay there.
