Onna Lee Walls Hooker
Aug 1, 1928 - Oct 5, 2025
Onna Lee (Walls) Hooker of King went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 5th, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Onna's passing was peaceful, surrounded by that same love that defined her life. A cherished mother, grandmother, loving great grandmother, and friend, Onna's gentle spirit and unwavering faith were a blessing to all who knew her.
Born August 1st, 1928, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, Onna lived her life with a servant's heart humble, kind, and giving. Known affectionately as "Nana Hook," she loved tending her garden and sharing its bounty with the constant stream of family and friends who found comfort and joy in her presence. Her generosity and quiet strength reflected the love of Christ in all she did.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lisa (Tony) Simmons; her three grandchildren, Ashli (Daniel) Gattis, Zachary (Ashley) Hooker, and Justin (Bethany) Hooker and her five great-grandchildren, Duke, Beckham, Lyla, Daisy and Jaxon. She is also survived by her sisters, Lola Caudill of North Wilkesboro and Velma Fulp of King, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Hooker; her son, Dwayne Hooker; her brothers, Raymond William Walls, Roby Bill "R.B." Walls, and Cebert Walls; and her sisters Dorothy Willard and Minnie Callahan.
She was a devoted member of First Christian Church in King, where she found joy in worship and fellowship. Onna was a faithful servant of Jesus, a true inspiration to all around her. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Mountain Valley Hospice for their support during Onna's final days. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at First Christian Church in King, followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. Afterwards, there will be a private graveside burial at First Christian Church in King, with Minister Glenn Vanmeter officiating, for close family.
Onna's life was a testimony of faith, love, and family. Though she will be deeply missed, her loved ones rejoice knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior, reunited with her husband and son, and tending to her heavenly garden.
