Phillip Craft Obituary

Phillip Floyd Craft

Jul 5, 1930 - Sep 19, 2024

Mr. Phillip Floyd Craft, 94, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was born July 5, 1930, in Forsyth County to the late James Henry and Dora Mock Craft. Mr. Craft was a lifelong member of Lewisville United Methodist Church and the community of Lewisville. He was a member of the West Bend Masonic Lodge #434, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and a founding member of the Rust & Dust Club. Floyd was employed with Hormel Meat Company for over 30 years. After retirement, he founded Craft Meats where he and Polly, his wife, served the community, including the Dixie Classic Fair, Vienna Civic Club and numerous other organizations and social groups. Floyd had numerous hobbies which included antique tractor shows, gardening, raising chickens and guineas, rabbit hunting, and watching his favorite team the Carolina Tarheels play ball. He was an avid fan of bluegrass music and singing gospel hymns and could play many musical instruments by ear. Preceding him in death was his wife, Polly Brewer Craft; daughter, Deborah Jean Craft Jones; and four brothers and one sister. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Craft McCormick (Les) and Penny Craft Lynch (Riley); six grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Andrew Johnson (Paige), Sarah Williams (Barry), and Adam McCormick (Jessy), Tyler Lynch and Ethan Lynch; six great-grandchildren, Taylor and Avery Johnson, Isaac and Jeremy Williams, and Oliver and Mack McCormick; sister, Eunice Craft Hudson; and also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the health care professionals of Vienna Village and Bermuda Village that have helped to provide care for Floyd these past few years.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Lewisville United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Brown officiating. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewisville United Methodist Church, 6290 Shallowford Rd. Lewisville, NC 27023. My sympathies to all of your family. Heaven gained some special people last week. Daddy passed away on Monday. He always asked if I had heard anything about how Floyd was doing. All of us always enjoyed time with Floyd and Polly, joking, singing, and, of course, eating. Floyd was a special guy, always with a smile and something funny to say. Fond memories always. Prayers for peace.
