Phyllis Collins Walker

March 21, 1938 - March 9, 2025

Mrs. Phyllis Collins Walker departed this world to walk with the Lord on March 9th, 2025 at approximately 5:30 p.m. She was 86 years of age, just shy of her 87th birthday. She passed away peacefully in Melbourne, Florida where she resided for the past 9 months with her granddaughter Amanda Jeannotte (Floyd) and her family. Mrs. Walker was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on March 21st, 1938 to Charles Calvin Collins and Maggie Pearl Souther. Phyllis attended Mineral Springs High School and in her younger years, enjoyed bowling. Phyllis enjoyed social gatherings and was usually the "life of the party". She had a lifelong love for Nascar and enjoyed attending racing events. Phyllis maintained relationships with big personalities such as Richard and Kyle Petty, Bill Elliot and the Johnsons (Flossie and Junior) to name a few. She was a Certified Nurse's Assistant and found fulfillment in caring for others.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved husband James Lafayette Walker, 2015, and her sister, Brenda Bottoms, along with her parents. She is survived by her son, Randy Floyd, granddaughters Nichole Velazquez and Stephanie Valle, granddaughter Amanda Jeannotte, great granddaughters Alyssa and Taryn Arroyo and a great great grandson Leo Rexford-Arroyo. She is also survived by nieces Pam Hinson, Tracey Hall and a nephew, Eddie Bottoms along with many other great nieces and nephews. She also shared a special relationship with her great niece, Brittany Woods.

Service of Remembrance will be held at Christ Moravian Church off Academy Street, April 17th at 1 p.m. followed by a lunch in the church's fellowship building.

Phyllis and I attended elementary and Mineral Springs High School together. She was always so full of laughter and loved to dance. Will surely miss her at our class reunions.
