Polly Howard Obituary

Mrs. Polly Ingram Howard, 83, formerly of 2324 Slater St. passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004, at the Lutheran Home of Winston-Salem. She was born Jan. 20, 1921, to Ed Wilson and Lizzie McCullough Wilson. She was educated in the Lincolnton public schools and continued her education at Forsyth Technical Community College, North Carolina State University Extension Cooperative Education and Winston-Salem State University (formerly Winston-Salem Teachers College) with many certifications in leadership and community service from many missionary and Baptist associations. She served as president of the Luncheon Club with the Cooperative Extension Program at N.C. State University for many years and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Beauty of the West Chapter, the Bowen Park Community Club, the 8th Street Community Club, the Slater Park Community Club, Ruth Missionary Group of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, and the North Winston Senior Citizen Club. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church and a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Elliott Ingram and Robert Howard; her soul mate and friend, Louis Roundtree; two brothers, Edward Neal Wilson and Joseph Wilson; and six sisters, Nannie Bell Robinson, Elizabeth Brewer, Mary Moses, Sylvester Little, Coot Wilson Hall and Sally Harris. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Bobby R. Wilson of Winston-Salem and Willie Lee Ingram of Largo, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Ricarda Ingram, of Washington, D.C.; a sister-in-law, Bertha Wilson, of Washington, D.C.; her faithful nieces and nephews, Dr. Juanita Fleming of Frankfort, Ky., Jessie M. Campbell of Winston-Salem, Dr. Henry Moses of Nashville, Tenn., Denise Warfield (extended niece) of Pittsburgh, Pa., Robert Moses of Gastonia, Dorothy Brewer of Baltimore, Md., Priscilla Cloud and Velma Wolfe, both of Winston-Salem, Eunice Blue of Tacoma Park, Md., William Stewart of Winston-Salem, Donnie Richardson-Bey of Baltimore, Md., and Vivian Little Williams of Winston-Salem; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and friends; and a special play daughter, Carrie Robinson. God bless and thanks to all contributing flowers and condolences and to the staff of the Lutheran Home of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, April 17, at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph R. Samuel officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 7 to 8 this evening, April 16, at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. (Russell)
