Reginald Rideout Roberson, 74, passed away quietly at his home, with his wife holding his hand, on Thursday evening, October 10, 2024. Reggie was born December 31, 1949, to Herman Hester Roberson and Blanche Rideout Roberson at City Hospital in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Reggie is predeceased by his parents; a sister, Jean Roberson Denton; and his brother-in-law, W. E. (Bill) Denton, Jr., Tarboro, NC; his brother, Kenneth L. Roberson of Winston-Salem, NC; a nephew, W. E. (Eddie) Denton, III, Tarboro, NC; great-nephew, Josh Denton. He was also predeceased by a best friend, Sp4 Gary E. Grubbs on November 2, 1969, in Quang Duc, South Vietnam, at age 20.

Reggie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donna Holt Roberson and their furbaby, Gabbi, of the home, Winston-Salem, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Roberson Hoots and husband, Jimmy Hoots; sister-in-law, Norma F. Roberson, Winston-Salem, NC; by niece, Anne Denton Weeks (Brent), Tarboro, NC; nephew, Marty Hoots, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico; and niece, Janet Hoots, Winston-Salem, NC; two great-nieces, Nicki Denton Fountain (Brandon) and Jeanna Denton Frisk (Nick); great-great nephews and niece; and also nephews, Brad Boyd and Michael Anders; and niece, Stacy Anders. He is also survived by several cousins; a special cousin, Tom Andrews, Lubbock, TX, whom he considered as another brother; and survived by special friends, Hal Byrd, Winston-Salem, NC, and Sam Knight, Chandler, AZ.

Reggie was a graduate of Piedmont Aerospace Institute and served two years in the North Carolina Army National Guards, Medic Unit, stationed at Fort Jackson, NC, during the Vietnam War era. He retired from Amp/Tyco Corporation in Winston-Salem, NC. He had a "green thumb," inherited from his mother and Grandmother Rideout. He thoroughly loved pampering flowers, shrubbery and watching the birds. Reggie enjoyed catching up with his military buddies and also looked forward to North Forsyth Senior High School (Class of 1968) reunions. Reggie was an avid golfer, excelling in the sport, winning several trophies, and especially loved to tease his father-in-law, Charlie Holt, who often played golf with Reggie and whom Reggie called "Chuckie Baby." He and Donna had many good times going to the beach and interacting with their families.

Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC, is handling Reggie's funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, October 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with services being held there Friday, October 18, at 12 noon by Pastor Jay Bowers, Canaan United Methodist Church, where Reggie had been an usher until declining health. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Garden Cemetery, on High Point Road, where military rites will be held in honor of Reggie's military service.

The family requests that memorials may be made to Hospice, animal rescue centers or to disaster relief groups in western NC or flowers.
