Swing, Sr., Richard Lee

May 10, 1938 - January 31, 2023

Mr. Richard Lee Swing, Sr., 84, of Winston-Salem, loving husband, father, and grandfather, entered the more immediate presence of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. He was born in Forsyth County on May 10, 1938, to the late Charlie Baxter and Naomi Mitchell Swing.

Richard was a proud veteran whom served his country in the US Air Force. He loved baseball and enjoyed being the assistant coach and scorekeeper for his sons teams while they played at the Winston-Salem Nationals Little League. Richard was also a very avid fisherman and enjoyed his trips to Cape Lookout to surf fish. He was a very active member of Calvary Moravian Church where he served as the Chairman of the Collections Committee, Usher, Diener, and was on the Board of Trustees.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Baxter Swing, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Frances Swing; two sons, Richard Lee Swing, Jr. (Christy) of Asheville and Kevin Swing (Melissa Kimberly) of Gainesville, GA; eight grandchildren: Nick, Lily, Lexi, Emery Kate, Connor, Cason, Fallon, and Sullivan; and brother-in-law, Robert R. Dalton. He is also survived by four nieces and their loving families: Diane Dalton (Amy Giles), Denise Dalton, Shirley Yountz, her children, Jenny Myers (Jason), Bobby Yountz (Devan) and her grandchildren, Emma, Sadie, Max, and Addison; and Robbi Easton (Eddie), her children, Dalton Easton (Kylie), Sam Easton, Harrison Easton, Jack Easton, and Georgia Easton, and her grandson, Beau.

A funeral service will be held in his honor 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Calvary Moravian Church, officiated by the Rev. Chaz Snider and Rev. John D. Rights. Burial will follow the service in God's Acre. The family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the general fund at Calvary Moravian Church, 600 Holly Ave NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
